I have been studying bellydance since 2001 but am experienced in many other forms from modern concert dance (Graham, Humphrey, etc) to traditional folk. I received my doctorate in cultural anthropology at University of California in Santa Cruz and have taught anthropology of dance courses at local universities. This blog allows me to continue my scholarly inquiry into the practice and function of dance locally and globally. For more essays, please visit my old blog at dancedocsthinktank.blogspot.com
I also manage a family blog called Webs of Significance at patnconnie.wordpress.com
Fascinating background. I’ll check out the blogspot site as well…
Hi,
My name is Lisa and I work in the marketing department at Sydney Opera House, Australia. I just wanted to get in contact with you to make you aware of an online dance competition we are currently running called MyMutation. This is purely an online competiton, so location is no barrier to entry! I was hoping that you could put some info up on your blog so that you and your readers can be aware and enter.
All the info needed to enter can be found on our MyMutation website on YouTube at- http://www.youtube.com/sydneyoperahouse
Entries close 10 August and the winner has the chance to perform at Sydney Opera House on September 26 2010 as part of our Spring Dance Festival (expenses paid trip to Australia!).
If you have any questions, or would like some more information, please email me!
Thanks,
Lisa
Nice site. I enjoy reading your articles. I sent you a note on Linked In so I won’t be redundant by telling you my background but we have much in common. I will enjoy coming back to this site. Best of luck with it. Tarifa Salem
